With the Mayan calendar ending in 2012, a large group of people must deal with natural disasters such as volcanic eruptions, typhoons and glaciers. The synopsis of the film goes something like this: The world is devastated by a cataclysm in the year 2012, leaving survivors to struggle for their lives.
The budget is rumoured to be close to $200 million and already has John Cusack and Amanda Peet cast in lead roles.
2012 is not necessarily the end of the world. It really depends upon your personal spiritual beliefs. Some view it as a world-shift, or change in governmental systems. Wikipedia says: 2012 is claimed by some with New Age beliefs to be a great year of spiritual transformation (or alternatively an apocalypse).
Sounds like a perfect over the top experience for the movies, with a seriously cool story to keep you entertained for a little while watching 2012
